Our Story

Beginning in 1900, after years of day working across New Mexico, Colorado, and Texas, Nelson Field and his wife Ida Mae settled north of Magdalena, New Mexico. Here they established the Field Ranch and purchased their own herd of livestock. These cattle were marked with the iconic Half-Circle Tee brand, starting what would come to be known as Major Land & Cattle Co.

The Half-Circle Tee brand was used by Nelson for several years before being passed down to his daughter, Lily Field, and her husband Malcom S. Major. During this time, Half-Circle Tee would be seen throughout the 500 head of cattle across the ranch. In 1956, a $40,000 investment by “Buddy” Major combined the original Field ranch with the neighboring Pino Ranch for a total of 57 Sections. The brand’s use diminished during this time and was passed down to “Buddy” upon Lily’s passing in 1978.

Buddy’s youngest son, Randell, was next in line for the Half-Circle Tee brand, and would put it back to use in the 1980’s. Over the following years, thousands of cattle across Western New Mexico would bear the Half-Circle Tee on their side.

Still in use today, the Half-Circle Tee brand brings with it not only a long history of tradition, but now offers the opportunity for anyone to represent the brand.

An iconic design with a wide selection of looks, this is where tradition meets timeless style.
